Sept. 19, 1942 Wendover, Utah Dear Dad + Mom: We had another accident out here last night and a plane burned up on the ground. It didn't happen to our squadron for a wonder, perhaps we've had our share of bad luck. A plane was being refueled and fumes from the gas truck were ignited by a flare left too close to it, the flames ran up the hose and set the plane. I had just come out of a lecture when I saw the flames and heard the explosions so I beat it down to the ramp. Two cadets were trapped inside the plane and lost it was a terrible thing and I'm sure everyone will be more careful from now on. Our calesthentics hour has been changed now so we get eight hours of sleep without being wakened. We do them now from 12 noon til 1 oclock. We play base ball + basket ball part of the hour so it isnt
