to some local place of interest it will really seem good to take a ride in a car. I'll bet all this gas rationing etc. I hear about will really be inconvenient but I guess everyone has to give up something. You and Dad will have to get bicycles I guess. I had some snapshots taken the other day I thought they came out pretty good I am sending you a couple and will send grandma one. Ive had two letters from her recently and will write her one this morning. It's been awfully cold here the last two or three days wear jackets and shiver, sleep under two blankets and a kapok filled comforter. The orchestra at Hakes show started to play "Deep in the Heart of Texas" and the crowd booed them down of course it was good naturedly but it pretty well reflected everyone's impression of this part of the state. Just finished up the box of cookies last night like Maxwell House coffee they were good to the last (drop.) Got your money too Mom and really appreciate it but I can manage, I got $17 and something last month. When the money for the bonds comes out I should be getting $30 instead of $21 you get this after four months. Gosh I wish they would raise our pay to 42 bucks like they've been talking about I doubt if it every goes thru tho. If it would I could send a little money home. I'm glad they are going to start the silo right away it should be a real improvement and I hope a money making investment. Tell me how many sows we have and how many little pigs & if they sold the calves or not. How much corn did E Stammard take 1 or 2 . (I owed him for 14 bu corn at about 60 cents). Must quit & will try to write sooner next time. Love Johnny
