Sheppard Field Wichita Falls, Texas Air Corps Technical School June 4th, 1942. Dear Dad & Mom, I got a card today from one of your P.E.) sisters at Frederick Okla. inviting me to spend a weekend with her, a (Mrs C. M. Crawford). I was very surprised and would like to go but due to this new order we must stand review at 4:15p.m Sundays. So this makes it impossible. What do they do publish a list of soldiers names in the Record or something or how did she get my name. It's still hot and dry everyone sweats to heat the band. This night shift I dont like but it wont last so long. We are in a cement block building and it holds the head & doesn't cool off before midnight. Got your nice long Sunday letter, they are just like a visit. I have written Mrs. Hay she should have received my letter I should think. Boy I wish I had a lot of hogs to sell, they surely bring in good money. I know who that Westphal kid was I'd seen him over around Hawkeye. Had a letter from Mrs. Kahlo this week too. I hope the calves improve I thought they were nice when I left they aren't very old. I believe Bill will make them do okay. His last years bunch was swell. I believe the drain idea is okay it was an awful mess with the pail. Hope we have a good crop but I've got an awful lot of faith in Sawa. I thought maybe the raspberrys and blackberrys had died out.
