July 16, 1942 Tucson Ariz. Dear dad & mom: I just received your letter written the 9th with the pictures in it. I really got a great kick out of seeing the calves, pigs & horses. The silo really looks fine. I do so hope crops will be good and the farm will make some money this year. Bill is a good farmer I believe and will make it if any one would. I am glad the hay got up in good shape as long as it was so nice anyway. Did the alfalfa catch well across the road & between the house and the quarry? This place may not be so bad especially in that we will be here only a short time. Will move out of here at least by the end of this month possibly by the 23rd. The food here is excellent. I just sent two more pairs of shoes to be repaired. I don't know how many thousand miles I got out of these. We are going to classes here for a little advanced training which we will get at Wendover & Sioux City also. I guess rumor is pretty well confirmed that our home base will be Pueblo Colorado. I believe that will be fine. This is a new bombing squadron (365th) which I am assigned to. Of course I don't know much about
