I had a nice visit with the old grandmother. We we just two miles from Valley Forge. In the after-noon we all went for another ride along Long Island Sound and then up into the beautiful hills which are about like the hills around Clayton. We stopped at one place an went through the rose and wild gardens. It was just like fairy land and words couldn't begin to do it justice. There were arbors of roses - little pink ramblers, for blocks and in the center every other rose imaginable. It certainly was a wonderful spot but this year owing to the war it is not as well kept up as other years. I cant imagine what it was other years. We went back to the farm and I ate green
