Nov 24th. 1918- My dearest Mother & Father- This is the day on which we are sup-posed to write Christmas letters to our fathers but I couldn't write to one of you without including the other. So here are by best love to you and Christmas greetings and the hope that I have held for many years - that this will be my last Christmas away from you. I know how you and many others will enjoy this "Peace on earth" which reigns this year as never before - I hope the boys will be with you for the day at least. I have no idea where we will be but I will be with you in spirit and I know that you will be with me. As long as there remains anything to be done over here, I hope we will be allowed to stay over. Just now things are getting much lighter as all the cases who can possibly be moved are being started on their way toward the States and you never saw such joy as they show when they leave here. It hardly seems possible that when the Yanks said "Heaven, Hell or Hoboken by Christmas"
