next day we went to Versailles with a Red Cross party. The palace has much more furniture in it now than it had in January, as they are bringing back all the things which were hidden during the war. The grounds were so beautiful, the trees were all blooming and the leaves so green. We took a lunch supplied by the Red Cross and ate it on the steps in the back of the palace. We went to both the smaller palaces, the Grand and Petite Trianons, where Marie Antoinette lived and to the Swiss village. We saw all the old coaches and sleds used by the kings and queens of France. There was an American solider with us, who acted just as if he was listening to a fairy tale. He said "My this is worth a great deal to me." After the others left he stayed with us for fear
