Dec. 11, 1942 Tucson, Ariz. Dear Dad & Mom: Got your first letter yesterday addressed to Tucson, the one with Jimmys in it. I was glad to hear from you and glad to hear from Jim. I began to think he had forgotten me entirely but I know how he is about writing. Im sorry it took my letter so long to reach you but I didnt have access to a telegraph. Our crew took off a tail assembly from a B-24 yesterday it was quite a job disconnecting electrical wiring, control cables etc. We first took off the vertical stablizers then the elevators and last the horizontal stablizers. It is almost unbelievable how light those huge pieces are, and what strength they have. When in the air they have to support a lot of weight because those planes are heavy.
