April 22, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad & Mom: This has been a beautiful day, hope it's been as nice in Iowa and as warm. The snow is leaving the hills close to camp fast. Im trying to write this and listen to Henry Aldrich at the same time and find its almost too much of a job. Isn't he in a mess tonight. Your letters came thru to me in two days dont know why mine get so mixed up going that way. It only takes half as long as the mail did at Tucson. Got one yesterday & the one you mailed the 20th this noon. Is Mrs. Finch Sr. as fat as ever and like to play bridge as well. She was there when I was home on furlough as she been there all this time wrote Brad the other night quite a long letter for me but I hadnt written him since I was at Sheppard Field. Just put a pair of coveralls to soak and have a brand new pair to wear tomorrow. Also washed some underwear & sox, we can get [rinso?] here at the P.X. so washing isnt so bad. I try and not let much get ahead, I dissolved a whole bar of G.I. soap in a pail of water to soak my coveralls in and if the lye doesnt eat them up by morning the dirt should be loosened.
