April 26, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad & Mom: Got your nice box of candy today it is mighty good and thanks a heap. Ive only tried the top layer and it sure hits the spot. It is still safe and fresh but wont last long. Its been a hectic day today, very raw and cold the coldest of any day since I moved up here. Froze hard ice last evening and the wind has blown hard all day. On top of that we had a hundred our inspection yesterday and broke off a spark plug in the cylinder. Couldnt get it out so today we removed and replaced a cylinder and that is a tough job. I really was worried but this afternoon when I preflighted her everything was okay. Was up until 1 AM and got up again before 6 so Im ready to turn in before long. Mr. Dibble was here yesterday, I havent taken a 24 hour pass since Ive been here so I could have one when he came. Then I had this inspection and couldnt get it. I did go down to the gate and visit for an hour or a little more. I made a date to see him in the evening but due to the bad luck on the engine I couldnt leave
