April 30, 1943 Pacatollo, Idaho Dear Dad & Mom: Today we were paid and right on time. I drew $105.67 after bonds, insurance and squadron expense were taken out so Ill send home a money order soon. I put in my furlough papers today, they have to be signed by the engineering officer, then the Commanding officer so it will be awhile before I know just how they will come out. I asked that it begin the 7th of June but that date may be changed slightly. Will just have to hope until then. Boy are we in style now have a Juke Box in the mess hall that plays automatically all thru our meals. They have some good numbers on it and I enjoy it for a chance. Its a fine one brand new and must have about fifty pieces. Just finished washing, a wool sweatshirt 1 shorts, handkerchief, socks and towel, soaked them in Rinses overnight so it wasnt much work and they are all pretty clean. I have used those two towels ever since I came in the army, the ones you put my name on. The one edged with blue I have wrung it too hard and it is pretty weak in a couple of spots but the white one is as good as new almost.
