Nov 19th 1918 My Dearest Bess: Well I will attempt to tell you how much I enjoyed a trip yesterday. Major Clarke, Crow, [Jud?] [wo?] others went out to Versailles. It is about 30 minutes from Paris and was originally built by [WO?] Louie XIV. It is the most wonderful grounds that I have ever seen. I think Louie was something of a sport. The paintings in there are simply wonderful. Especially [of?] the battles which are painted on the walls. Napoleon built several buildings there but the lack the magnificence of [Louies?] affairs. We have had more patients coming in now so it looks like more would do nothing [about?] classing the place up. I hear that there will be [uo?] more promotions [suice?] the armistice so I suppose you will have the pleasure of seeing yours truly in the same position as our friend
