[anger?] Monday Jan 5th 1918 My Dearest Bess, Will I have arrived in another place here in France yes after a very disagreeable [illegible] 36 hours on the road going 300 miles. The cars were [not?] heated so you can imagine how comfortable it was we came down to the American line of communications and see many engines and cars [illegible] look familiar. Also Americans running the trains. The pictures and the letter came the day I left Paris. It was very thoughtful of you to remember to have the pictures taken
