Fri.  3.  This is good Friday one of the holiest religious days of the year, it is in my opinion one of those days on which we should think seriously of our savior who suffered so terribly upon the cross to blot out our sins in the book of our Creator.  May we follow his preceps and example.  Some people are so superstitious to believe this Friday the only good Friday, i.e. the only Friday on which we may undertake anything without meeting with any reverse of fortune.

Sat.  4.  The weather in Cairo is extremely beautiful at present (My men cleaned up this morning.  In the afternoon we had a battalion drill.  We were told that our money had arrived and we would be paid in a few days, this news makes the men glad again.  

Sun.  5  Ten years ago today, I was confirmed in the Evangelical Protestant Church at St. Louis Mo.  This also is a sacred day to me.  I went to the Catholic Church to hear the new mass.
