Wednesday 5. I am still lying quietly in my "bunk", nothing of interest worthy of record is going on, every body appears to be only interested in self, consequently very little socially is going on; the dull monotony of camp life is again gradually closing in on us. If we only had good water in this neighborhood, we would get along better, but the water in this vicinity is very poor. Rained a little. Thursday 6. Began to feel interested again in my mess, took my regular meals today. Bought provisions for my mess. Received orders to have my Company ready by 6 A.M. Tomorrow, to draw our "green backs". The men are very much pleased to get their two month's pay at this time. Friday 7. Our regiment marched to division Hd. Qrs. where we received our pay; I drew all of Kranz' money, which he could not draw at the last payment. The men are glad that they received their pay, they sent over $1.000 home by Express. Saturday 8 Sent Frank and Albert to Vicksburg, with our money, to express it home. Sent $264.00 at home. Our officers are getting sick. Sunday 9 Did not do much of anything this morning. This afternoon Lt. Kranz received his resignation papers, his resignation was accepted on the 4th inst. The Lt. Col. also received his. Kranz commenced packing his effects, and intends to depart for home this evening. Capt. Doran
