Dear Dad + Mom: Got your letter today mailed 6:30 P.M. Dec. 30 that is the quickest any have come thru I think it is after laxity of getting the mail sorted on the field that makes it take so long. I think they could do a little better if they tried. I still haven't received my box of cookies from you I wonder if it would be a good thing for you to send a tracer from that end, I have already told them here the day after Christmas but haven't heard anything. I had a fine letter from Jimmie today a note from Mrs. [Antes?], letter from [illegible] Greening a friend I made in Texas and who is now in Maryland attending O.C.S. he bet me $3 the war would be over the first of this year and wanted my home address to send it to. That's about the only bet I ever made but I was sure of that. Also a New Years greeting from the Dibbles. Worked on an 100 hour inspection today got it done in good time and didn't seem to hurry too much. We got a slip in today from Pueblo, one of those we were to get. It wasn't in very good shape certainly not up to the standard of maintenance we try and maintain. There was a lot of stuff that wouldn't have gotten by our inspectors and I wouldn't want it to. The best you can do on one of those darned airplanes is none too good.
