Feb. 9, 1943 Tucson, Ariz. Dear Dad & Mom: Am enclosing a money order for $100 only of last months pay check. Dad take the $20 you let me have when I was coming back from furlough and put the rest in the bank for me. If I don't do anything else while I'm in the army I'm going to save enough for a good saddle and horse when I get [illegible] money before long [illegible] here perhaps I should [illegible] Uncle Raymond for finding me so well when I was at home. [Illegible] of night shift last night so am having a rest this afternoon maybe I can get a few letters written tonight. Have to go on C.Q. again this week the 13th. [Illegible] isn't such a bad job but 24 hours at a stretch is quite a long spell. Last night was quite miserable the wind blew and about 2 am it rained hard and turned quite cold, it has stayed cold all day and the sun hasn't shown at all, this is a very changeable climate for the life of me I can't figure out why it is supposed to be a health resort. Just finished napping [illegible] my bunk area the first guard cleaning it has had for days. When we are at nights it gets sadly neglected. We don't have many [instructions?] over here at the gulch which I like. I like to buy things clean & neat but a lot of there rules are the [illegible]. Our [illegible] are still grounded today so the buy [illegible] so bury me still don't know what
