Feb. 9, 1943 Tuscon, Ariz. Dear Dad + Mom: Am enclosing a money order for #100 out of last months pay check. Dad take the $20 you let me have when I was coming back from furlough and put the rest in the bank for me. If I dont do anything else while Im in the army I'm going to save enough for a good saddle and horse when I get out. I should get my ration money before long that I get paid for not eating here perhaps I should send it part to you and part to Uncle Raymond for feeding me so well when I was at home. Went of night shift last night so am having a rest this afternoon maybe I can get a few letters written tonight. Have to go on C.Q again this week the 13th. That isnt such a bad job but 24 hours at a stretch is quite a long spell. Last night was quite miserable the wind blew and about 2 AM it rained hard and turned quite cold, it has stayed cold all day and the sun hasnt shone at all, this is a very changeable climate for the life of me I can't figure out why it is supposed to be a health resort. Just finished mopping up my bunk area the first good cleaning it has had for days. When we are on nights it gets sadly neglected. We dont have many inspections over here at the gulch which I like. I like to keep things clean + neat but a lot of there rules are the bunk. Our planes are still grounded today so the boys arent so busy we dont know what
