Feb. 12, 1943 Tucson, Arizona Dear Dad + Mom: Got your letter; the papers + the box of Fannie Farmer candy. Thanks for the candy it sure tastes grand I hope it doesnt make me as big as the Kentucky farmer and Im sure I'll have half enough is disposing of it so I wont get too much. The cookies came yesterday and went in a hurry they tasted fine and not a one was broken even the popcorn tasted pretty good. Showed Arky the poem + he got quite a kick out of it. Our ships are back flying again without a word as to why they were grounded my old ship is flying pretty good, in the air most of the time. I flew yesterday for five hours and got my flying time in so you wont have to worry for another month, but that $48 is just too much to turn down for only flying four hours. Twelve dollars and hour is the best pay I ever got for any job. It is warm again after our short cold snap I think spring will be coming on before long down here as they say it begins to get real hot here in March + April. In fact the last couple of nights have been quite warm. I wont work nights now for a week which always makes me glad. Tomorrow I am on C.Q again and will have my legs worn down again. It is a twenty four hour job but at least I get a day off afterward
