Feb. 14, 1943 Tucson, Ariz. Dear Dad + Mom: I didnt get much sleep today but will try and write a few letters tonight and go to bed again. C.Q wasnt so rough yesterday but I didnt find time ti write much thought I might get a good hit done. It was surely hot today I lay on top of my bed and they sweat fairly poured of me. Tomorrow we move over on the main base. I dont want to but they didnt just take a popular vote on the question. It is always a mess ehen we move, a mad scramble for the best places, believe me Im going to get a lower bunk this time. I've slept in uppers for months. At least Ill be quite close to [Kaippel?] and will see him occasionally. We will be right on the line and get all the noise and it will be so hand if anything goes wrong at night to come over and [illegible] us out of bed. We are very short handed right now, which means extra hours for everyone have expected to get in some new mechanics for a long time but we are getting along okay. We are getting a couple of our ships in condition which havent flown for
