February 17, 1943 Tucson, Ariz. Dear Dad + Mom: Im sitting out on the porch writing this at around 7: P.M. with no sweater or jacket and the nights have been a good deal warmer this past week or ten days. Last night I was too warm under just my comforter, no blankets. It seems as tho it stays light quite a lot longer too. We signed the pay roll for this month or rather most of the fellows did. I havent yet but have until one P.M. tomorrow. This will be a nice check or cash I should get this month. Hope it keeps coming. I still havent received my ration money I have coming. Have you ever received any bonds yet which I have bought. I started in June taking out $6.25 per month so I should get one every three months. There is nothing to worry about if you havent at it takes a long time with all the red tape etc. I have records which show Ive been buying them so its safe enough.I usually write on my foot locker but tonight some of the boys are playing cards on it and I didnt want to disturb their game. Isn't it funny what so many different fellows have for hobbies. Ive just been visiting a fellow who used to raise dogs for sled racing. He lived in Idaho right near Jackson Hole and his brother in law has a big hotel not far from Jenny Lake. There isnt a fellow I've met yet but what Ive been pretty close to where he lives or know a spot of interest near him where he has been. This boy used
