March 22, 1943 Tucson, Arizona Dear Dad & Mom: I took the day off yesterday and went to town and to the horse races. Had a good day just got to the main gate and we were picked up and rode to town, they just let us out and we got a ride then clear out to the race track. Saw a show and stayed all night with a friend who already had a room. Got your letter and one from Aunt Jennie today enjoyed them both very much. Got a card down town today that pretty well describes Arizona Ill put it in this letter. The day has been raw and the wind and dust blew hard. Part of the day the sun shone but when it went under a cloud it was cold. I am enclosing a clipping which has to do with that specialized training program I spoke of once. I don't think so much of the idea but I understand it is compulsory. I have to attend a meeting of some sort tomorrow and will no doubt find out something more definite one way or another. My A.GT.C. score was 137 I believe which is just average or a little above. I think 149 is the highest you can get. I don't believe any of the specializes schools
