March 23, 1943. Tucson, Arizona Dear Dad + Mom: Just got back from the meeting in regard to special training. Didnt find out a darn thing, just had to fill out a paper with your name, serial number, years of college, what you majored in etc. Dont know what it is the beginning of or anything more than I did. Its a nice day down here, sun is warm and no wind blowing. Hope it can warm up at home very soon and be pleasant, after all it is spring. Have to take our barracks bags over and have them stenciled today, names + serial number so they will be handier to to find when we move. That event will come off quite soon. Im sure but not immediately. Washed my hair and re-oiled it down in this country my hair gets so dry I have to use Vaseline hair tonic to keep it down and from from getting so brittle. Should be out on the line but there isnt much to do and I just got back from the meeting and havent changed clothes. Wish I had two piece fatigues instead of coveralls, then if it gets too hot a fellow can
