March 26, 1943 Tucson, Arizona Dear Dad & Mom: I have slept all day since I turned in at 9 A.M. after my day off at C.Q. Slept fine today too which is unusual but it was cool and not too much noise. Expect I'll sleep tonight because I missed 24 hours and I'm quite a sleepy head. C.Q. Wasn't so tough yesterday not many calls to make and few errands. Supper tonight was junk, cooked macaroni, just plain no cheese, sauce or anything on it, chilli and some sad salad left over from dinner lettuce, tomatoes and peppers and you know how they are after sitting a few hours. Had chocolate pudding too but I'm sure it wasn't Jello or Royal which are advertised as being delicious. The only thing that saved the day was that Elmo Niccaloi an Italian boy who has s a very good friend got a box from home. It had a lot of funny little cookies, some hard stick shaped ones with anise seeds that were very good, others that were all frills and dissolved in your mouth without chewing them and various kinds of all descriptions they were all good and certainly different.
