May 5, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad and Mom: Today has been a regular March day rather cool and the wind blew hard all day. My plane is on a cross country flight, if you saw one go over it might have been mine as it flew to Milwaukee Wis, and that would put it right across home. Don't know if I told you or not but Pocatello is located on exactly the same line latitude as west [illegible]. We had an inspection of the hangar and surrounding area and consequently this afternoon we have been cleaning up, picking up refiling some engine mounts and [policing?] up in general. Raking and [illegible], [illegible] all paths with rocks and making the place look better. Seems as tho no two inspectors wants things alike one way suits and guy and you must redo it for another. The grass is coming out in the seeded areas around the field and the dust still blows pretty bad. It seems around all camps there is enough ground not grassed over that the dust blows, when the grass gets a little better start tho I believe it will stup it. Andy Devine is to be on the field tonight and there is to be a dance at the Rec. hall perhaps I'll go after a little. There is a college in town and there are usually quite a few girls at their dances. Dont know who furnishes the music some local band or a good band which is passing thru on tour.
