May 9, 1943 Pocatello Idaho. Dear Dad + Mom: This will be mighty short tonight they have already put out the lights and Im trying to write this in the latrine. Worked a little late this evening had a tire to change at about 6 oclock and by the time I shaved, showered and shampooed the lights had been put out. Wind blew again today but quieted down around dark. Had to tie down the planes about 5 because of the high wind but it didnt last long and now they are all flying again. For once we missed having an inspection on Sunday but have it tomorrow spark plug change and all. Hope the plugs come and without any trouble, sometimes they stick and its a mess. We have a baseball team on the field and today they won their first played the Union Pacific Railroad workers from town Won by 18 to 11. Most of the fellows are from our squadron. The [Rhedes?] are certainly handy at fixing things up arent they? Ill bet her papering probably doesnt spit behind the radiators like Charlie Wolfe used to.
