Dear John, After a long slow trip crossing the equator and international date line we arrived at an island in the south pacific. The people here speak French and it is winter that is about all I can say. I have a tent, am writing this by the light of a candle hope you can read it. There is a river here where we wash swim or bathe We line up for chow under a palm grove so have a picnic three times a day. The fruit such as oranges lemons bananas coconuts etc grow wild. The fly, mosquito and black fly keeps one on the jump & it rains most of the time. Hope you got home OK & found the folks well am sure they enjoyed seeing you. Hope you got the farm taken care of & your lights all set. Don't try to write as I didn't receive an A.P.O. and we will not be here long wish I could tell you all about it. Hope that if you go you can go the other way. As ever brother Bob -
