Our soft ball team won another game last night as yet they are undefeated but dont know how long their luck will hold. Our pitcher is home on furlough which will hurt their chances. It has really been hot the last couple of days over 100 both days but the night have been cool enough for blankets. Expect Iowa is warm day and night but hope to get a sample a little of it soon. We are to be issued another suit of khakis soon as it is almost impossible to keep clean with only two suits, the laundry service being what it is. Dont know how son we'll get them. Think you might as well give up trying to get grass to grow under the big tree its an [illegible] just doesn't want to grow. There has been a lot of labor go into that small area and so far it hasn't given very big results. The flowers the fellow planted so early along our barracks are trying very hard to make a grow of it. They have been frozen, baked, dried out, covered over with gravel etc but they persist in coming thru, dont know that they will ever make blossoms but they are certainly valiant. Got my first v-mail letter yesterday from Bob will enclose it when I get home we will try and figure it out as to where he is. Think it will storm here tonight as it is so very hot. Cant think of anymore to write- Love Johnny
