UNITED STATES ARMY Aug. 14, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad & Mom & Grandma: Had a pleasant ride with Plegg and Arlene down to Cedar Rapids. Saw the Clark family, Wilfred & wife, Mrs Clark, Eloise & baby and a Crawford or two in the station. Eloise was going to visit her husband someplace out west. Had about an hours wait, and when the tram finally came there was standing room only but I had to catch it any way, guess they are all crowded. Luckily the car I got on was air conditioned so it wasnt so tough. Looked thru several cars for Garner Hays but did not locate him until the next morning and I saw him in the diner at breakfast, moved back to his car then but still didnt have a seat. The lunch you sent tasted grand because they took the diner off before dinner time. Thanks very much. Lots of fellows on the train were returning to Pocatello from furloughs and many were going on thru to the coast. Some of them had ridden clear across the country and were really tired and dirty. Their soldier husbands, I sure felt sorry for the little kids because I was dog tired myself when
