up. We had only driven a short way when we came upon four elk. they were very tame and we got real close to them (remember my elk picture from another trip?) They are going to start the winter in fine shape are as fat and [illegible] as [males?]. I notice they have same [timothy?] crested [illegible] grass, blue grass, [illegible] [illegible] and other grasses I didnt recognize along the streams and open meadows. Expect it [illegible] winter a lot more deer, elk, etc than before. I am surprised the seed caught so well. Saw porcupines, a coyote, [illegible] [rock?] [illegible], chipmunks, but no bear. Saw a flock of Canadian geese and a lot of wild ducks. There were many people fishing along the streams, I shouldnt say many but several. Traffic is mighty slim this year. one of the rangers told me only about thirty cars per day passed out the south gate. many places are closed down this season but there is ample accomodation for the travelers that do come thru. Our trip of course was too short we went only thru one [illegible] of the park, [illegible] the [illegible] are. Saw several in active the smaller ones seemed quite active and Old Faithful erupted on schedule. I tried to pick up some [illegible] but there was no one to wait on us
