tickled. Also bought a store cake and some ice cream so we had a good meal. There is no change for [illegible] men going thru national parks so once our uniforms [illegible] us in good stead. Would have just as soon of paid and not always remembered we had to be back before our passes ran out. Drove on south to Jackson [Hale?] saw the big elk [illegible] grounds and headed back toward Idaho. Some of the prettiest country we say was in this are, really rugged mountain driving. Had a good drink of water and of a [pike?] running down the mountain side. Cold as ice and mighty good.Got back to camp about midnight in plenty of time and surely enjoyed it. Drove a little over four hundred miles, had a flat tire picked up a [shoe?] [illegible] but the weather was beautiful and I couldnt have asked for a nicer 24 hour pass. The last one was before I left Tucson about six months ago.Now this is what I found when I got back. About a half hour after I left # 4 engine on my ship developed an oil leak which turned out to be a cracked cylinder which necessitated an engine change. Help was scarce as another man was on pass so it still wasnt finished when I got back. Ran into a little difficulty and we didnt finish until tonight. I'm still glad I went tho to heck with the airplane.
