Sept. 14, 1943 Pocatillo, Idaho Dear Dad + Mom + Grandma: This has been a good day quite warm, had to shed my sweatshirt at noon and even then I sweat this afternoon. My ship was out for a twenty five hour inspection and the armament bay had to work ion the bomb racks, so we had time for several odd jobs, installed a landing light, changed voltage regulators put on some [illegible] that were missing, adjusted a couple of fuel pressure settings etc. I'm going out again last night and help a fellow put a new spring in his car. Has a couple of broken [illegible] in it. Don't know whether I know just all about it but I used to change them on my Model T + Model A. Had a ground accident here last night, a rookie pilot taxied into a parked ship and almost wrecked it. Knocked an engine off + and ruined a wing no one was injured but it spoiled a lot of equipment. Expect someone will catch the dickens for it glad it wasnt in our squadron where it happened.
