ARMY AIR BASE POCATELLO, IDAHO Oct 2, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad, Mom & Grandma: Im writing this about 10 P.M out in the hangar, listening to "Truth & Consequences" so this may be quite jumbled. Have a new job tonight Im Flight Chief, have to check on all the squadrons planes before they go [illegible] on flights etc. Its kind of rough nights too and I dont like the job. Its only temporary while the regular guy is on furlough thank heaven but Im the next ranking man so when a change is made Im afraid Im stuck. Would rather have my crew chief job, pays the same money and less grief I think. Took a hot shower before I came to work and had a good rub down with alcohol & wintergreen but now am I stiff Smell nice tho but dont [illegible] so [hot?]. The practice is going better than I expected, if I can lose thirty or forty pounds I guess it will be worth while whether I make the team or not. Glad my bank deposit is growing a little I know it will come handy later on. If Dad thinks I should put some more in War
