man and some others I didnt know, just new fellows transferred in. Got a kick out of the clipping you sent, about the card the [jurar?] sent to [Mathin?] Cooney, he had lots of reasons why he couldnt make it didnt he. Nows the time they should give you a chance to serve. Youve always wanted to. That must have been quite a shock to have Maude want to buy shingles been a long time since she's bought from us. Glad you got to see Betty before she left with herx kids, Hope they enjoy living in the east and the trip isnt too rough on the little girls, expect it will be worse on Betty. Would certainly like to see those timbered hills now the leaves have changed color. Even if Grandma doesnt like it I think that is a great part of the country. Fall is a nice season even if it does predict a winter very soon. Even the winter isnt so bad if a fellow gets ready for it in time. Im still stiff from football practice but maybe it will work out before long. There is a fellow in our barracks who can certainly rub the soreness out of your muscles, Im going down before long and get him to work on me. I got a first team suit but that may not mean much this early in the season. There are some good men out and probably in a lot better condition than I am. Love Johnny
