UNITED STATES ARMY Oct 9, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad, Mom & Grandma: Just finished showering and shaving and rubbing down with my wintergreen linement. My stiffness has about worn off and Ive all ready started to lose a little weight only weighed 256 last night. Also did my almost daily washing which seems to accumulate. Its been a good day here, warm and pleasant but getting cold this evening. The day light hours are growing [illegible] shorter arent they, not light till after seven and dark by seven at night, wont be long till winter is upon us. Lots of the fellows are getting passes to work for a construction company on the field which is building an addition on our ramp and runway. Certainly good pay 80c for common short labor per hour and 1:10 for driving a truck with the usual union time and a half for overtime and double for sundays & holidays If I wasnt out for football I think I should try for a three day pass and make the extra 25 or 30 bucks. They are very glad to get the extra help and almost beg the fellows to work.
