Oct. 11, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad, Mom & Grandma: Will try and write a few lines on G.I. paper while Im waiting for the planes to come in at midnight. This should be my last night as flight chief as the regular guy came back from his furlough today but isnt on duty until tomorrow. Got my game jersey today at football practice, they are orange and black, quite nice ones. Tried to get number 33 which I used to have back in college but couldnt do it, have number 59 instead. Our squadron is well represented on the team (it is a [illegible] team) we have an end, tackle, 2 gaurds, center, full back and half back on the regular team and we have several alternates. It is going to be cold again tonight, I think it will freeze harder than last night because it is still and quite clear, still cloudy but clearing. Must have the boys drain the trucks on the refueling unit and run the tractor inside before it gets much later. We have to dilute the engines now so they will start easier. The oil we use is quite heavy so they turn over kind of stiff.
