UNITED STATES ARMY Oct. 14, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad, Mom & Grandma: Had a good sleep today got to bed about eight and didnt get up till after 4 P.M. Now I can sleep again tonight and should get caught up after my night session. The other guy is back on the job and I expect to go back to my shift tomorrow. One good thing now it is cold enough to sleep day times, no flies, if you can stand the noise. Went to football practice tonight, we are drilling hard for our first game, the team we play has already played three games so they have quite an advantage over us. Dont know how we will come out but can only try and find out. Got a letter back today which I had mailed to Uncle Ralph the first of September, it was sent to Oklahoma City but never picked up. I had sent it to [Callender?] about the time I had expected them to go thru there, but no go. I just opened up a box of stationary I have and found two letters, one to you folks and one to Bob which I wrote two nights ago You will think I have deserted you but I must
