Oct. 11, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad, Mom & Grandma: This is another wretched night raining and cold with right smart of wind. We have been given orders to drain all vehicles having just water in them as they expect it to be quite cold in the morning. Im working tonight but as long as the weather stays bad the ships dont fly and there is no work. Have one more day of gas school left and then an examination and Im through. the course hasnt amounted to much but is required and I learned a little I expect. If we ever go overseas we are thoroughly schooled in chemical warfare etc. every one will forget this anyhow I expect. Think I shall get a little sleep tonight if the planes do stay on the ground. Put my sheep skin jacket on and curl up in the corner. A fellow gets so he can sleep anyplace, if you get tired enough. Usually cant even get a nap out here nights. The fellows out here nights get some time off and usually read these darn comic books. [illegible] man, masked marvel etc. dont see what kick they can get out of them but they are read and reread until they are worn out. Thats about the extent of most G.I.'s reading but guess its relaxation and entertainment. Buck is having a pretty good stay in West Union Im glad for him, too bad you missed him when he brought the picture, you should have quite a service gallery soon, with all the cousins, Buck
