ARMY AIR BASE POCATELLO, IDAHO Oct. 20, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad, Mom and Grandma: Rained all night but we still have snow on the ground and from the looks of the clouds and sky, promise of more. The hills are all white with only a few rocky places showing thru. It thawed this morning and we turned all the ships around so all sides got the ice pretty well melted off from them. Still havent flown and I doubt if they do today, doesnt make me angry in the least. We only have a few crews left anyway so it doesnt matter much The fellows are having quite a siege of playing Casino, Ive always heard of it but this is the first I'd ever seen it played I dont know the game so it looks kind of dumb. Guess its one of the oldest card games tho. Ive dug out my rubber boots which I had home with me last winter, sure glad I had them to go slushing around in the snow and slush. [Am?] wearing my khaki pants under my coveralls too, it isnt so cold but that damp air seems to go right thru a fellow. Started this in the afternoon but, will finish it tonight, Got your letter in
