Oct. 30, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad, Mom & Grandma: Will try and write a bit before I go to the movies, just got cleaned up from football. Started this last night but didnt get much done a guy I hadnt seen for awhile came along and we visited This has been another stinker of a day, started to snow about 4 A.M. and its kept up all day long. Very raw and freezing most of the day but little remains on the streets, roofs and sheltered spots have about three inches. The mountains have another good coating to brighten up the old. Tonight the wind is blowing and its pretty cold. [illegible] to froze keeping the snow cleared off the planes all day Just moved a little closer to the stove its burn one side and freeze the other in the barracks. Have a ventilation at our end of the barracks with a swinging door which wont catch so its drafty around my bunk. Must get a step ladder and try and fix it tomorrow. They shipped out some more fellows from our squadron today. Just one man from my crew. One of the boys I started from Wendover with so Ill miss him I expect. There were only about a half dozen went from this squadron. Some from the other outfits went too. Our planes of course wont fly tonight so my night crew should have an easy night if it can sleep in the parachute building or engineering department. We sure havent flown much this past two weeks, only had a couple of good days.
