Chicago Ill. 1917 July 8, 1917 Dear Mother: I went to the show- It sure was fine, I have been down to the end of the pier all afternoon made several hits, we get a girl and walk around keeping shy of all cash registers for a while then leave her and get another one. I made lemonade tonight for supper. I just finished a letter to my fellow, he wont send me a box of candy until I send my picture I cant find any around her to send him tell Eva to get a picture of a movies actress and send me. John Nelson got a letter from his girl she told us some of the fellows that were drafted but I don't believe they have started the draft yet have they? A fellow just ask me if I would walk his post from 8:30 to 10:30 he has a date with his girl, so I told him I would he said he would give me
