Chicago, Illl July 18, 1917 Dear Mother:- We are waiting for the bugal to call us to go. I just wrote Pat [Brauer? Brown?] a letter. We may stay in New York for some time we cant tell. Louise Newton said it was in the paper about Mark sending me the box of candy, I havent got a letter from you or Grace since day before yesterday. I think I will get one befor we leave tho. Now dont you worrie about me Ill be alright. If you just stop and figure how long it would take for this army to be trained to fight you would see that we are not going there for that purpose. I will write every day, now if you dont get
