May 23 1918 Dear Mother, I received several letters today and sure am glad all is o.k. This mornings paper had {Julius?] [Millers?] name in honor roll. He was killed in action. Him and I was in the same class when we joined the K.C. It may not be so that he was killed, but it said [Julius?] F [Miller?] from Missouri Valley Iowa, so it must be true. His poor mother will be wild when she hears of it. She more than likely knows it before now because they dont publish any names until his folks know it. I sure feel blue over that, and if they would let me I would be up there tomorrow. This whol regiment is anxious to get up there they have tryed every way to get transfers, but they cant
