January 25, 1944 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad & Mom: I'll sneak a little time during the noon hour to write this. Just haven't found a minute the past couple of days. Hope I'll get done with my detail soon and will have a little time to myself. Have been working some nights. I think I will make out an allotment so the government will send part of my pay home and I won't have to monkey with it. I understand a fellow doesn't need much spending money if he gets across. There is a pay increase too so I'll have plenty. Have had letters from home one from Dave Lynch, telling about seeing & eating with the Grahams, one from Garner Hays and a grand one from Irma and a box of Fannie Farmer chocolates, haven't written back yet. Also got one from Mr. Dibble this noon which I haven't opened.
