July 25. Arrived at Halifax N. S. [at] 3 P.M. A tiresome wait. August 1 Left Halifax N.S. at 6 pm a happy bunch. Blew the siren, all ran to life boats, was sleeping on deck. Siren only a signal a heavy fogg August 6 Had a storm, felt fine. lots of the fellows were sick. August 7 Still rough, and not sick yet. Boys feeding the fish. August 8 Sea is smooth again. Was not at all sick.
