Did not go through Paris went on the outskirts. 3 miles out. arrived at Chalous on the Marne at 745 P.M. Marched to barricks and had supper then went to bed. This town was in the hands of the Germans for 8 days in Sept. 1914. Chalous Sur Marne August 20 Saw the first German prisoners. Started 3 [Fritzies?] to march around a circle with 60 lbs on back for 6 hrs a day for 30 days. they tried to escape. went down town at night. Saw the most butifull park I ever saw. August 21
