Nov. 4, 1943. Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad + Mom: Tonight our squadron is having a big party, guess I'll go they are having a show troupe from Salt Lake City which are supposed to be very good. I have to be M.P. again much as I hate it to see order is kept. Got a letter from Uncle Raymond today and one from you. Raymie will soon be done with his corn picking, says it has been a good fall to get work done but I think he is always good to get things done. Rained most of the day here and has been cold and disagreeable, didn't fly a bit today and the way the weather looks don't think will fly tomorrow. Believe it will snow. Wonder if that is the same Miller, dad thinks it was, I believe the one he is thinking of was Clare Millers father, he was the kid that batted the ball which flattened Brad Finches nose. Remember Brad said "well he never liked it before". This family never lived in West Union but in Clermont, perhaps it's the same one tho. So Pop is teasing Tillie about Tracy [illegible] to bad Leo] Stone isn't at the house anymore. Think his droll wit and winsome manner might make him an eligible bachelor in her eyes. Cant you see the headlines in the [illegible] Beacon " [illegible] [swain?] Weds Local Girl" Nov. 5, 1943 I'm over in the orderly room continuing my letter I started last night. One of my good
