Nov. 11, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad + Mom: I'm a blue son of a gun today was transferred to another outfit here in this field. There was a call for five crew chiefs and four enlisted men and I was one who [illegible] the [illegible]. The other four fellows shipped to Fresno California and I am stuck in with a bunch of whistle blowing rookies. Of course I guess nothing is as bad as it first seems but it is sure rough today. We got beat again today by [illegible] Utah they have a very good team beat us 19-0 but they were good enough I'm not ashamed of it. Didn't feel like playing anyhow was so kind if blue about leaving my buddies. Didn't get [illegible] up much but some skin [illegible] more. At least I have one consolation I can maybe get a furlough before long. It will help some as they are now going fifteen day furloughs. May take a little [finiggling?] but [illegible] I can put it [over?]. Wish I could go back to my old outfit would give up the furlough. It was quite warm today real nice
