Dec. 7, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad & Mom: Been colder'n heck here today, wind blowing and spitting snow intermittantly, even sounds kind of wild tonight. glad Im not working . Dont know just when I do go on nights. Have a bunch more ships in since I left and are really busy getting organized, crews have to be changed new crew chiefs made etc. Hope they all manage all right. I slept like a log last night, went to bed early and didnt wake up until the whistle blower came thru this morning at 6 AM. Another night or two and Ill be caught up I reckon. Got that little funny book from you today, expect its been here for several days but the mail clerk just found it. Got quite a kick out of some of the cartoons. I done passed it on to some other fellows so they can get a few laughs too. Missed chow tonight but had a good dinner this noon so won't miss it much. Anyhow after all that good food at home. I can stand it. The fellows here had turkey for Thanksgiving but I know it didn't taste like mine at home. The old wind is really howling now makes the barracks fairly creak and the windows rattle. Im sure I wouldnt go out tonight unless
