Dec. 12, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad + Mom: Had a big Sunday dinner today, chicken + ice cream, quite generous and good. I helped wash the breakfast dishes this morning so you can see I'm not feeling so badly. Didn't mind the [pub?] as there weren't many and it relieved the monotony. They have a steam sterilizer in which the dishes are put after washing and left in for a half hour, so all the germs should be killed. There are about 30 in our ward eighteen in the room where I am and the others in individual rooms mostly bronchitis + flu but a couple cases of mumps, stomach ulcers, scarred lungs and one guy in an oxygen test, pneumonia I expect. Haven't had any mail down here yet but expect one of the boys down this afternoon or evening. Have written several
